She’s back!
The student returns as a graduate

Hola! I’m Millie Breeden
Just over a year ago, I joined Amigo Partnership as a fresh-faced intern, diving headfirst into the wild and wonderful world of marketing.
Now, I’m back. Not as a student this time, but as a graduate. And I’ve joined the Growth team as Growth Coordinator.
Here’s my story.
A full-circle moment
Just over a year ago, I was soaking up everything I could during my first real taste of agency life.
Now, I’m back, degree in hand, ready to grow with the team that gave me my start.
My internship at Amigo was packed with firsts:
/ First marketing festival (MAD//Fest)
/ First time supporting the Accounts team
/ First published blog
I returned to university with a whole new perspective on people, work, and creativity.
What’s changed since the internship?
Final year. Full-on.
But I tackled it head-on, balancing deadlines with leadership — including captaining my university rugby team at the legendary Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium (and winning!).
Academically, I went deep into a subject close to my heart: how digital content shapes perception.
My dissertation, Digital Motherhood: Analysing the Online Representation of Motherhood and Audience Responses, explored how Instagram portrays motherhood — and how it influences those who aren’t mothers.
I realised something important: even when content isn’t meant to harm, it can still have negative effects — not just on its target audience, but on anyone who sees it.
All that work paid off. I graduated with a First-Class degree, including a first in my dissertation.
The biggest takeaway?
We must create with intention. With empathy. With ethics.
And that’s exactly why I came back to Amigo.
Why Amigo
Because Amigo listens. Learns. Grows.
It’s an agency that does marketing differently — with creative thinking, emotional intelligence, and real authenticity.
And why the Growth team?
Because I want more people to see what I see in Amigo — a place full of brilliant minds, ethical ideas, and bold ambition.
In the Growth team, I’m working on lead generation strategies, social media, and analytics — all helping Amigo connect with brands that want more intelligent, measurable impact.
A new chapter
Rejoining the team felt natural, like I never left.
But this time, it’s different.
I’m not the intern scribbling in the background anymore.
I’m stepping up. Taking initiative. Getting stuck into lead generation, social strategy and more.
There’s nothing scary about working life once you get stuck in.
Marketing in the real world: lessons learned
In uni, you learn from neat case studies. In real life? It’s all about the unseen stuff.
The edits. The tweaks. The trials and errors.
Marketing isn’t just numbers — it’s knowing when to trust your gut. When to stop following and start leading.
From my mentors at Amigo, I’ve learned to balance insight with instinct.
To work as part of a team that celebrates differences.
To build the kind of adaptive marketing that keeps brands one step ahead.
Looking ahead
I’m excited about marketing that builds legacy — not just likes.
It’s easy to ride a trend. Real marketing sticks when it’s rooted in truth, community, and originality.
Gen Z grew up online. But we’re craving deeper connection.
Pop-up ads? We swipe past.
But thoughtful, human content? That makes us stop.
Advice for interns and grads
If you’re just starting out, here’s what I’d say:
/ Get stuck in
/ Ask questions
/ Bring a notebook
/ Soak it all up
And remember — you don’t need to ask to go to the loo. You’re not in school anymore.
Most of all: build relationships.
Marketing is about people — and that includes the people you work with.
Final thought
Thank you to everyone at Amigo for welcoming me back with open arms. I can’t wait to get stuck in, keep learning, and grow even more with this amazing team.
Here’s to my next chapter at Amigo Partnership™.
